Dogfight - Thursday , November 6 , 2008

So, this be my "About Me" page. Boo yeah.

Dogfight started as what was probably the first comic I ever wrote. I started the original Dogfight comic in 2003 or 2004, as a little elementary-school kid who honestly didn't know how to write comics. All I'd gotten done was a cover and two pages, but doodles and random concept art filled up math spirals, school projects, sketchbooks and many other things. I'm far too embarrassed to post a picture of the original star of Dogfight, a more block-shaped guy called K-9. After about a year, I scrapped most of the project, but kept the basic idea. The thought of a war between cats and dogs was so thrilling- though slightly unoriginal- that I kept it until spring 2008, when I started the new Dogfight in late April. I revised all my characters and almost all of the storyline. Only one character has the same name as his original version, and that is Laertes Catkin. Before, though, he was just called Catkin. No Laertes, nothing else. Just Catkin. Sarah was actually called Mia, Sam was Howard, Lance was a polar bear named Bobby, and Felix was named Jeff. So, yeah. Heckuva big change, especially for Lance. Poor bloke changed species. Also, Mia wasn't K-9's sister, she was just some kid that constantly followed him around. Howard also did almost nothing. He basically showed up for a few pages and then got shot. Yeah. Weirdness.

So, anyway, I'm a random girl who loves to draw and write stuff. Hence the comic. Yes, I realize that my picture is that of a male bear. With a moustache. And goatee. But see, that character goes with my nickname, Shaxbear. Yes, Shaxbear, as in a Shakepearian bear. (In case you couldn't tell, I'm a Shakespeare buff. Kinda sad, really.) Hey, don't go all "what the heck" on ME. My brother gave me that nickname during a rather unruly tennis match. Yeah, I call him Jelly. I have another brother called Froggle. That's another story.

Also, should you see a strange-looking otter getting whacked on the head in any of my comics, that would be my neighbor, who requested a cameo appearance. Also, the fruit loop and dog/cat things are kids who ride my school bus and are friends of mine who also wanted cameo appearances. Should you want a cameo, too, I might be able to work in one of those, but I can't take all requests, see.

And another thing. Should you see a strange-eyed purple lump thing that looks like Bloo from Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends or a fat frog-like thing that's wearing a striped shirt, beret, and speaks French, those characters would be Jelly and Froggle. They show up every once in a while. Just warning you.

Other random stuff will be posted on this page as I see fit.
